At Impero Leather, we understand that bag cleaning requires a special touch. Our dedicated bag cleaning department employs a range of tools, dyes and tailor-made cleaning and conditioning agents proven to work well with leather, suede, fabric, exotic skins and eco-friendly leather alternatives. Our methods are specifically designed to preserve the color, construction and style that make your bag unique.
Although Impero Leather is one of the most experienced leather repair companies in the industry, certain stains, color transfers and marks cannot be easily removed by cleaning without risking the original color and finish of your bag. Before that happens, our Impero Leather repair advisors will work with you to identify what blemishes cannot be fixed easily. And they will provide you with alternative solutions should they be available.
For cleaning, we use a variety of methods including steam cleaning, dry cleaning, and water washing with water-based solvents. Odors such as smoke, perfume, pets, dusky smells and more can be neutralized by our deodorizing methods. Exotic skins including lizard, ostrich, and alligator can also be conditioned using our own conditioner to help restore their distinct appearance.
For older bags that may have lost some of their character over the years, we also offer a post-cleaning “Touch Up” service where we apply special pigmentations to restore the color and finish of your bag.
After the cleaning and conditioning process, all items are treated with our nanotechnology water and stain repellent spray to further protect your bags. Our spray forms a protective shield over the leather and keeps it breathable. Water and stain repellent treatments last for two to four weeks depending on how often you use your bag. Our water and stain repellent spray is available for retail and we highly recommend that you continue treating your bags every so often at home.
We employ a variety of machines for our stretching process and one skilled artisan who is specifically devoted to this skill. After the stretching process is complete, the leather is polished and/or conditioned; if needed.
Depending on the material and construction of your footwear, we can potentially stretch it up to a half size larger.
Note: Shoes do stretch out naturally, so we recommended that you try to break them in first. If they still don’t feel comfortable, we can help with the break-in process.
TIP: Please keep in mind that anytime a shoe or boot is stretched for width, the length is also affected. So if the width is an issue and the length slightly, we recommend only stretching the width. If you are not sure what needs to be done, you may show us or send us a picture of where your footwear hurts, and we’ll advise what can be done to aid in comfort.

How does our zipper service work?
We know how valuable your leather goods are to you. That’s why we’ve formulated Impero Leather’s Water & Stain Repellent with revolutionary nanotechnology to protect your shoes and accessories without leaving any visible residue.
Our Water & Stain Repellent is available as a standalone or add-on service. You can also purchase it for home use here. The Water & Stain Repellent can be applied to leather, suede, nubuck, and textiles. Depending on how often you wear your shoes or accessories, you should reapply the solution every two to four weeks.
Our sole replacement service revitalizes your shoes without the need for a full resoling.
We offer a variety of rubber and leather soles to suit your shoe style, providing an easy and effective way to extend their lifespan. How does our sole replacement service work?
The sole is the bottom part of your shoes and boots that come in direct contact with the ground. As with all parts of the shoe, soles are made from a variety of materials that are durable and resistant.
We carry 20+ varieties of rubber soles that have unique designs and patterns.
For styles that need leather sole replacement we carry only one type: THE BEST! The leather soleing product we use on women’s and men’s footwear is imported from an exclusive European company who uses the classic traditional method of ground tanning with pure vegetable tanning agents – a process which takes 12 months to complete.
There are two options of sole repairs: full or half, which we match to conform to the original design of your footwear. On high heeled footwear, we would only do a half sole; a full sole can be done but is not needed.

For calf stretching, measure the circumference of both calves around the fullest part of your legs.

At Impero Leather, we can repair items damaged by fire, water, impact, or even dog bites. Our ability to reconstruct your items will depend on the nature and extent of the damage, and the materials and methods originally used to make your pieces. To receive a custom reconstruction quote, please book a consultation or email us with photos of your damaged items. We will take a look at the condition of your items and establish a plan for reconstruction wherever possible.
We carry an assortment of plastic and metal taps that are applied onto the toe and/or heel. Taps are used as an added layer of protection on the two areas that wear out the fastest from normal use: the tips of your soles and the outer edges of your heel.
For women’s shoes, please note that heel taps can not be applied to stiletto heels. As for men’s shoes, we also offer a metal tip that is built into the tip of your sole versus nailing a tap onto the tip of sole, which we refer to as a french metal tip.
The top lift / heel lift is the part at the end of your heel that comes in contact with the ground. It can either be in rubber or leather or a combination of both depending on the style of footwear.
Do your heels fill a tad too high? Depending on the construction / style of your shoes, we can shorten the heel height by 5mm to 10mm.
For broken stilettos or high-heeled footwear, we carry an assortment of heels that we can match with your original heels to retain the existing style. We can fix all types of heels. If the heels are not repairable, we can replace them with a similar pair. After the heel(s) is/are replaced, we would then recover them with the same or similar material/color.
If the original design allows, we may be able to change a wide heel into a stiletto or change a stiletto into a wide heel to create a different design. Please note that feasibility depends on the original design and construction.

Dye color matching is available for use on satin or, if you’re looking to change the color of your leather or suede shoes, you can select a pre-mixed color from our extensive collection. How does our shoe dye service work?
We clean all items made of natural and man-made materials through a variety of methods including steam cleaning, dry cleaning or water washing with water-based solvents. All cleaning is done by hand.
To neutralize odors such as smoke, perfume, pets, dusky smells and more, we can employ our deodorizing methods.
Exotics including lizard, ostrich, and alligator can also be conditioned using our own proprietary blend conditioner to help restore the sheen and the look of your exotic accessories.
After the cleaning and conditioning process, all items are treated with our Nanotechnology water and stain repellent spray to further protect your items. We sell this spray and recommend purchasing it to continue the treatment at home, as one treatment lasts for two to four weeks depending on how often the item is used.

We can work on satin, leather, or suede bridal shoes. Dye color matching is available for use on satin or, if you have opted for leather or suede shoes, you can select a pre-mixed color from our extensive collection. How does our bridal shoe dye service work?
We have an extensive department of skilled craftsman and craftswomen who are devoted to the alteration/repairing of footwear uppers.
Dog bite, impact damage, fire or water wear and tear? Depending on the original item construction, we may be able to reconstruct the damaged area.
If you have a pair of ankle boots that don’t fit properly, either too narrow or too large in the shaft, we can alter the shaft to accommodate your needs.
For boots with or without a zipper, we can also shorten shafts if they hit too high on the leg.
Is your footwear uncomfortable and too big? We can add foam or cork padding inside your footwear for a more comfortable fit and to help take up space when the item is too large in size. Padding can either be full length or just a half pad in the forefront of the footwear.
We carry an extensive collection of hardware such as buckles, d-rings, beads, ornaments, Swarovski® crystals, zipper pulls, locks, studs, rivets, eyelets, clasps, hooks and many more items to service needs including: hardware replacement, reattachment or customization.
We have a large stock of zippers in a variety of colors and finishes that we use to replace broken zippers, replace for a different style or color, or even add to existing boots that don’t currently have zippers. We carry zippers that current designers use on their brands.
